Hello everyone!

Hope you are all grand! I realised how much I missed writing after my silly MSc guide a week ago. If you haven’t seen it yet, please check it out. A lot happened in the past week. First of all, I got elected as a class representative for my MSc class along with three classmates. Yaay me! Secondly, I started working as a brand ambassador for Acadium. You have no idea what that is, and it is my fault because I haven’t shared my journey with you people. Apologises for that and here it comes:

I have graduated with an international finance background, but finance has never been an interest of mine. I studied it to have a different point of view. But while studying finance, I took on marketing electives. I realised how much I enjoy marketing. I did some digging 🙂 and kind of decided marketing is my passion, and that is what I want to do. After a fascinating internship at the Coca-Cola Company, I understood that it was not marketing I was interested in it was digital marketing.

What is digital marketing?

“At a high level, digital marketing refers to advertising delivered through digital channels such as search engines, websites, social media, email, and mobile apps.”

Marketo.com

According to Marketo “At a high level, digital marketing refers to advertising delivered through digital channels such as search engines, websites, social media, email, and mobile apps. ” So, imagine me a tech-savvy person, who lives on Instagram, who has a blog (hi) and who is learning more from the internet than at school (sorry professor). I was “Ok, this is exactly who I am. I am going to be a digital marketer!” Well, it wasn’t that easy 🙂

You see I didn’t have any relevant experience, plus I was a full-time procurement officer at EPO in Munich.

I was always on Coursera teaching myself the essentials and then on LinkedIn & Xing looking for internships or jobs. But as you can guess even for the entry-levels, I was asked to have some experience. So here I was wondering how to gain experience without being given a chance to gain experience ???

Then I met Acadium, thank god! Well, GenM back then 🙂

So Acadium offers you the chance to work with real-time digital marketers, take online courses and grow your knowledge and portfolio. I instantly created my page, and it was only a few days after I started chatting with mentors from all around the World. I worked with a mentor from Peru, who I did SEO/SEA based content writing. The apprenticeships last for three months. And you can do multiple apprenticeships at the same time. These are unpaid, but it is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience and start creating a network.

Close to the end of my second apprenticeship, they proposed I stay as a freelancer 🙂 Could you imagine how big of news this was to me? I was going to make money finally, from what I wanted to do as a job. It was that giant step for me to the next phase. This all happened thanks to Acadium, who gave me the platform to be reached and reach to mentors, gain experience and start my career.

At the moment, I work as a freelancer for my last company BirdBox.Film.

I feel lucky that I found Acadium and everything worked through for me. That was one of the reasons why I reached out to Acadium and asked if I can collaborate with them so more students; more people will see that this is possible. To make sure all those people who felt the way I did 1-2 years ago, know that they can do it, that there is a way to gain experience without having any experience.

I am an Acadium ambassador now, I am reaching out to students, to people who are looking for a change of career, or to people who just want to dip in the digital marketing World, basically to anyone interested. But somehow felt like they cannot do it because the rules, the recruiters don’t allow them. This is me telling you it is possible, also it is not just me, there are hundreds of success stories on Acadium. This is also me encouraging you to try it out, come see it with your own eyes 🙂

Come join us, learn from amazing mentors, gain experience and discover your potential!
