Hello again,

I am starting to add the trips and ideas of the past 6 months. I was moving back in Istanbul, I had to enroll for summer school and you know getting back to the rhythm of Istanbul… I couldn’t make the time for writing. But here comes nothing….

best welcome ever

Let’s take a start from here: Warsaw, Poland, February 22/25,  my partner in crime H2OCemre

We met in Modlin Airport, after not seeing each other for 6 months. She has been in Iserlohn and I was in London. We have been separated for a while you see. By the way you can see from the photo, I made that movie welcome at the airport. With her name written waiting at the exit point.

I want to explain the process of going to the city center from the airport. It was a bit tricky for us, if we are being honest. We bought the ticket from the machine which was both for the bus and the train. You can buy the tickets from the machines next to baggage claim.

where to next

The first bus will take you to the train station. And this is where it gets tricky, because you don’t really know where to go from the bus stop. Thanks to God, we found a Polish couple and they helped us to find the right train station with the right site to wait for the train. From this experience, we bought our tickets online for the Modlin bus, which is an express transport from center to the airport.

For public transportation, you don’t actually need it. Because the city is small, and the things that you might want to see are close to each other. You can easily walk everywhere. And if you need to get somewhere, and you are 2-3 people I would suggest you to take Uber, it is quite cheap. Well, the city country is cheap in general.

Let’s talk a bit about what to do in Warsaw? Luckily one of my friends from QMUL is from here, so she gave me some tips on what to see, where to eat and drink.

First of all, the Old Town is a must see. While going there you should probably pass by Nowy Swiat and Krakowskie Przedmieście streets, which are the most crowded and touristic streets of the town. You will see most of the most famous buildings and monuments of Warsaw.

To party, Ania recommended me go to Polisle which is one of the most popular spots of the town. The beers here even cheaper than the rest of the town. For the clubs Mazowiecka and Chmielna streets are recommended.

In most of the places, the bars and the clubs are just next to each other. Between 11-12, most of the clubs have no entry fees. Otherwise the entry fees are 7-8 euros, compared to London these are nothing.

Since the town is cheap in general, the hostels are also cheap. We picked the cheapest one possible I think and we haven’t spend a long time in the hostel. It was a bit on the bad side but still it was only for few hours of sleep. It was super central so it was kind of worth the pain.

One of my favorite spots in Warsaw has been the bar we found called Hoppiness. So many different kind of beers, and if you need some recommendations. You can ask them, they will ask you few questions to determine which one would be the best for your taste. The burgers and the fries are amazing as well! It is a bit small and mostly crowded so be careful.
