London from the plane

8 months ago I got a big surprise. I received my offer from London for my Erasmus. Since then I have done many research and I moved to London. But you cannot imagine the anxiety it brought me. But now it has been 8 months since the news and I am all settled in London. So how did I do with the moving?

Honestly, I did not sleep even a bit on my last 2 days and I couldn’t stop moving around the house. I have checked my luggage several times. 2 big and 1 small and +1 big suitcase at my parents’ place in Kazakhstan that I will be collecting around March. Well vacuuming everything kind of helped with fitting things in but it didn’t go well on the luggage check since I had to pay for overweight.

Well a human has normally 2 hands, but how did I manage to carry these by the tube and a coach? Well I can get a big robotic maniac while moving and travelling, I guess that was that.

I knew how to get to school, of course I’ve done my research. I need to get a coach and then tube and walk a bit. Well almost 1.5 km which was the hardest part of the trip. I am not even talking about the random guy who asked me if I want to buy some drugs in the middle of the night while I was carrying my life with my bare hands.

The campus is huge, like quite big. It took me a while to figure out where to go and how to go as well. But once I found the student reception I was relieved they helped my with my enormous luggages as well.

While I was entering to my dorm flat, I only had one question on my mind. Am I going to have friends?! I know this is a nonsense, I mean I moved so many times in my life I am basically always the new girl. I knew kind of that this fear of mine was irrational but well anxiety, you know~ So here I was trying to open my door, one of my flatmates gets out from her room and we meet. Then she became my Mags! I left my luggages at my room and left for a beer with her right away.

Another problem which I realised pretty late that I don’t have any pillows or a duvet. So the first night sleep was a bit rough. I knew I had to take care of it the first thing in the morning, otherwise I would have died there. The heater in my room which we learn later was broken, so it didn’t stay on longer than 1.5 hours, which I got it fixed later!

Next station: Primark—>pillow, sheets, duvet …
