7 Nisan gunu arkadasim Cemre’nin odevi icin TMMOB’de  30 Mart – 20 Nisan tarihleri arasi sergilenecek “Derin Deliler: Bir Kent Meselesi” adli sergiyi gormeye gittik. Acikcasi giderken cok begenicegim bir sergi beklemiyordum. Bunun sebebi benim heykeltirasa pek ilgi duymamamdi aslinda. Ama gel gor ki inanilmaz bir sergiydi. Bu kadar guncel bir sergi olabilicegini dusunmemistim. Epey etkilendim.

On April 7, my friend Cemre and I decided to go see an exhibit roughly translated as “Deep Insane: A City Matter”, which will be open until April 20. Well, I wasn’t expecting an interesting one. And that’s because I don’t really like sculptures. But it was super modern. I was pretty affected by what I felt there.

Serginin yaraticisi Oylum Oktem Isozen kentlesme surecinde, mega kent olgusu, gecekondular ve gokdelenler arasinda sikisan ve fark edilmeyen insanlarin kaygilarini heykellemis.

The artist Oylum Oktem Isozem, sculpt people who are trapped between skyscrapers and slum houses, because of urbanisation and the megacity impact.

Serginin sonunda kucuk bir oda icinde Istanbul’dan secilmis karelerden duzenlenmis 3 adet arka arkaya gosterilen bir clip bulunyor. Odaya ilk girdigimde karsimdaki inanilmaz gercekci amca heykeli sagolsun epey urperdim.

At the end of the exhibit, there is a small room, with a clip that is created with photographs from Istanbul. When I entered the room, thanks to too-realistic man sculpture, I was pretty scared.

Beni en etkileyen eser en sonda ki bembeyaz heykeller topluluguydu. Oylum Oktem su sekilde aciliyordu durumu;

“Derin uykularina her biri istenc disi dalmis, uyudukca hareketsizlesmis, hareketsizlestikce beyazlamislardir. Onlar cagin akisini derin uykularinda dinleyenler ve zamani biriktirenlerdir. Bilinc disi ortak akretiplerin uyaniklastirdigi bir uykuda; simdi ve gelecek kurgusu uzerine akil yurutenler olarak derin uykularindan bir gun yeni bir zamana uyanacaklardir.”

The sculpture that affected me the most is the one at the end of the exhibit. Oylum Oktem expressed them as;

“In their deep sleep they unwillingly fell asleep, get dormant as they sleep, get whiter as they get dormant. They are the ones who listen to the flow of the age and collect the time. They will wake up as the ones who will think about the now and the future from their dormancy. ”

Oylum Oktem Gezi Dayanismasi sirasinda icsellestirilen ve temsili fotograflardan sayilan kopek ve adami da cisimlendirmeyi es gecmemis.

Oylum Oktem didn’t miss to sculpt the well-know scene from the Gezi Park Protest, The Dog and The Man.
